In working closely with business owners over the past 7+ years, one type of self-sabotage has shown up over and over again, and that’s listening to TOO many people.
I’m a huge believer in coaching and mentorship. I coach others and I get coached myself, and I believe lifelong learning is essential to success.
But how do you know when you’ve crossed the fine line from learning and listening… into self-sabotage?
Webinars, courses, email lists…
In your quest to learn, “prepare” enough, and know enough, you can lose not only your momentum, but yourself as well.

(I’ve been there myself several times, so you’re not alone.)
I’ve jokingly called this a form of “guru fatigue” in the past, but it’s more than that.
You may not even realize how much it’s affecting you, which is why I wanted to share the signs to look out for in this week’s video.
Make sure you watch to hear if YOU have any of the red flags going on, and the practical steps I give to fix it.
You’ve got enough potential challenges to deal with on your entrepreneurial journey – this doesn’t have to be one of them. 🙂
In the comments, I would love to hear about your experience with this. Have you ever found yourself listening to TOO many voices, only to end up feeling as stuck as before?
This is so me Christine 🙂 I call it being “Guru Woozy”
Exactly!! You know exactly what I mean 🙂
This is GREAT Christine! I found others taking way too many courses and subscribing to way too many lists–and then I looked in the mirror :)! Thanks for this reminder!
Amen sister! 🙂
Perfect timing. I just described it as drowning in a flood of muddy water and trying to dig out of the sludge once the waters subside. This is exactly where I am and what I’m trying to do.
I keep unsubscribing but I need to also stop signing up for freebies and summits – those are what have really jammed the inbox. I’m trying to go back to the courses (paid and free) to finish them but I’ve learned that I have to get back to where I started and really learn who I am and who I serve to even be able to implement the things they are teaching.
I also need to leave several FB groups that may be good but that I’m not able to really get the most out of yet because I’m not far enough along, and a couple of others that are just duds. LOL – not yours BTW
Thank you for this. It lets me know I’m on the right track and maybe I’m not the only one dealing with this.
LOL. Thanks, yep you are DEFINITELY not the only one! I’m so glad you found it helpful and that you know what you need to do. Happy to help remind peeps haha. 🙂
You’re a Voice for our voices. Great reminder, Christine.
Aw! Thanks Nichole. Appreciate your support!
I sure have a lot of work to do to get down to 10 ! I’ve been weeding out a few at a time. What’s ‘funny’ is that much of what I read or listen to I am already familiar with so why do I feel I need constant reminders? Hmmm. Maybe because I’m not implementing? (smile). Oh yeah – way too many courses and downloads never looked at. Need to focus and learn from those or eliminate them off the hard drive.
YEP! That’s it! Analysis paralysis at its finest lol. Glad to help with a nudge to remind you that you KNOW ENOUGH. 🙂 xxo
WOW – perfect timing – I SO needed to be reminded that I’m not implementing, I’m just collecting courses and resources and I don’t know where half of them live on my computer! Thanks so much Christine!
Hey Melinda! So glad this was helpful for you! We all need a reminder from time to time 🙂
